EO Breakfasts With PM John Key

Tony Falkenstein, founder of listed company Just Water International Ltd, and Communications Chair at EO Auckland attended a breakfast held on 16 April in Wellington, with the guest of honour PM John Key. Tony’s reflections on the breakfast are below.
Entrepreneurs’ Organisation held a breakfast with the Prime Minister, John Key, this morning. The Prime Minister is a relaxed speaker anyway, but in a small group of 40 entrepreneurs, he is in his element. He epitomises what he sees as success for New Zealand – a country where people see their glass as half full, where they feel happy and safe that New Zealand is a great place to live.
He is very focused on the long term for the economy. He is proud of the surplus that will be shown this year, while other countries are deep in debt, but he is adamant that surpluses need to be the order of the day.
I got the impression that he is looking long term for himself, hoping to be the next Prime Minister, and it seemed that he wouldn’t mind a 4th term.
At least that would cut Judith Collins out of the picture!
